Violet Evergarden is a young orphaned girl who was trained from an early age to be a combat weapon in the army during a great war. Due to this upbringing, she is apathetic, devoid of human emotions, and only understands the concept of “following orders”.
During the final battle, Violet is severely wounded and loses both her arms, which are later replaced with metal prosthetics. The last person she saw was her superior and only point of reference, Major Gilbert Bougainvillea, who whispered some words to her: “I love you”.
To understand the meaning of those words and discover human feelings, Violet begins working as an “Auto Memory Doll” (Automatic Writing Doll). By traveling and writing letters on behalf of clients, Violet embarks on a deep journey of emotional growth that leads her to overcome her past as a soldier and finally become a person capable of feeling.

Violet Evergarden è una giovane ragazza orfana che è stata addestrata fin dalla tenera età per essere un’arma da combattimento nell’esercito, durante una grande guerra. A causa di questa educazione, è apata, priva di emozioni umane e conosce solo il concetto di “eseguire gli ordini”.
Durante la battaglia finale, Violet viene gravemente ferita e perde entrambe le braccia, sostituite poi con protesi metalliche. L’ultima persona che ha visto è il suo superiore e unica figura di riferimento, il Maggiore Gilbert Bougainvillea, che le ha sussurrato delle parole: “Ti amo”.
Per comprendere il significato di quelle parole e scoprire i sentimenti umani, Violet inizia a lavorare come “Auto Memory Doll” (Bambola di Scrittura Automatica). Viaggiando e scrivendo lettere per conto dei clienti, Violet intraprende un profondo viaggio di crescita emotiva che la porta a superare il suo passato di soldato e a diventare, finalmente, una persona capace di sentire.
